The announcement was made on Monday by the Game Show Network (GSN) on behalf of the show’s new sponsor, PokerStars. MacDonald will provide commentary and entertain the viewers at home with insightful knowledge of the live cash game that he has picked up over his career as a celebrity poker player with over a decade on the live tournament circuit. Professional poker player and TV presenter, Kara Scott, who was brought into the show last year, nor six-season host Gabe Kaplan the will return to screens as part of the show’s line up.
According to a press release, Macdonald is a passionate poker player who has competed at the World Series of Poker, celebrity poker tournaments, and charity events.
The high-stakes cash game was filmed during December of 2010 at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. A GSN press release reveals that the series has been filmed using 3D technology. Players were limited by the applied structure of a $200,000 minimum buy-in and a maximum buy-in of $500,000 to play a cash game of $400/$800 with an ante of $100. “Straddles were frequent and often multiple. Several players were felted, so rebuys and add-ons were prevalent.” Acoording to GSN.
There are no Full Tilt Poker pros in the seventh season thanks to the heavy hand of the new sponsor, meaning players like Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey, Eli Elezra, and Gus Hansen will not be playing. The players who will be seated at the high-stakes table include: Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Robert Croak, Jon Duhamel, Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Galfond, Bill Klein, Phil Laak, Jason Mercier, Julian Movsesian, Daniel Negreanu, David Peat, Bill Perkins, Mike Baxter, Eric Boneta , Andrew Robl, Phil Ruffin, Vanessa Selbst, and Bob Voulgaris.
Brunson, Chan and reigning World Series Of Poker champion, Jonathan Duhamel, are the three Main Event champions on this new season. Selbst will be only the third female ever to grace the set and will be accompanied by six rich amatuers: Silly Bandz creator and Deepstacks investor Robert Croak, philanthropist Bill Klein, Treasure Island Las Vegas owner Phil Ruffin, life insurance executive Julian Movsesian, businessman Bill Perkins and Rolex entrepreneur Erik Boneta.
